Difference Between Standard Version
and Professional Version
The professional version of the report allows fundraising experts to track changes in giving patterns utilizing the following additional fields:
Total Revenue Given
Average Gift Amount
Number of Gifts Given
Average Number of Gifts Given
Average Gift Amount Per Donor
The importance of these additional fields is illustrated in the examples below:
One example would include donor attrition. It may appear that a small number of donors are leaving your file, which is not a concern so long as new donors are being acquired to take their place (Standard Version). When gift information is included you may notice that the revenue lost from the small number of donors who are leaving is actually quite significant and may include major donors you have been depending on (Professional Version).
Another example is tracking donor renewal rates. In the Standard Version, donor renewal rates are tracked over a ten year period. The Professional Version allows for greater analysis based on gift information. For example, if a large percentage of donors are renewing, this can be viewed as a positive trend (Standard Version), but if the total revenue and average number of gifts of renewing donors are going down, (Professional Version) then what appeared as a positive trend is actually a negative one that needs to be addressed.
Yet another example would be tracking donors who gave more, the same or less than in the previous year. Donors who gave more than in the previous year can outnumber those who gave less, making it appear that donor upgrading strategies are on a positive trend (Standard Version). But when gift information is included you may note that the amount lost by those who gave less, is far greater than the amount gained by those who gave more. What appeared as a positive trend is actually a negative one when this additional information is added to the analysis (Professional Version).
These examples illustrate the importance of the additional information provided in all categories of the Professional Version and how they allow for a more complete analysis of donor giving patterns.
